Fairytale

In a dream
I lived life enchanted, to myself, it seemed
A beautiful Princess, I posed to be,
Grace and elegance, for the world to see
Fate had different plans in store
I was knocked down to the floor
Each step toward my fairytale
Pushed back; wicked the wicked gale
To sing like a nightingale
A voice, a cracking wail
Animals ignored me, turned in disdain
I wasn't a princess, just a child so vain
My dancing clumsy, my feet all amiss,
Tripping over my hopes, with every missed twist
The princess passed by me, without a glance
Slumped down, alone, without a chance
My castle of dreams shattered and dust
I am no Cinderella, just lost for the lust
The depth of despair, a great shadow did form
A beast with fierce flames, calming the storm
I lost the tiara, and out came a roar
Never a princess, a dragon, evermore.
Wings that soar high, scales shining bright
Embracing nature, with all of my might
I won't be confined to a glass-slipper fate
My wings spread wide, ready to elevate
I am a dragon; fierce, strong; tried and tested
Embracing the power, for that I vested.
