Fireworks of flame and molten metal
Blast their way through your unfortunate brethren
While wings of steel burn red then melt away
Or explode like broken shards of glass
As you fall into the orange-black death below.
The ground hits you hard in the darkness
As the living and the dead fall like leaves around you
While you drag your body cold with fear and sweat
Across the dark grey sands of oblivion
And the pools of red left by your brethren before you.
Tracers of death take down those unable to find their way
Into the blackened bruised and broken woods
Where your brethren hang like teardrops from the trees
And turn into candlelight or human pincushions
As you try to bury yourself in the hard forest floor.
Your brethren continue to fall limp to the ground around you
As bolts of red pierce and pass on through them
Releasing them from their fragile mortal coils
In a land far far away from where they’d grown
For a people that they didn’t even know.
Then the death-dealing bullets find you too
And the weight of a horrendous fear yet unknown to you
So intense in its horror that you can’t face it head-on
Grows deep inside your bleeding heart
As the darkness turns from red and orange to silent black.
Now you lie beside those lost brethren of yours
As you are all zipped into those barren sacks of death
And fly into a sky full of fireworks of flame and molten metal
Where wings of steel burn red then melt away
Or explode like broken shards of glass.
And once again you fall into the orange-black death below.
