Family....where are we now...

I remember growing up we said that we would never forget each other.
We laughed, we cried, we fought, but we felt safe, as long as we were together.
One by one we left the home.....
Some were left alone.
The one thing that I always smiled about was that we grew up together.
Six siblings we were, with another few added on from another.
But we were family as far as I knew.
Love that was in our hearts have grew.

In our twenties, one by one we left the home.
Bearing children, finding love, getting married, and oh how we have grown.
Another life we gave to ourselves, but still we knew if life let us down, home we could go back to.
Back then life was so easy, but our hearts were always true.
Watching our children grow up to be how we used to be.
Hoping they would find something greater then what we had, a heart so free .
Better then you and me.

Now in my fifties, I lose sight of what I had back then.
My brothers and sisters, I wish to see again.
Going back home, was a thing in the past.
We said that we would never forget each other, life, did move on fast.
Whatever we promised to each other, we promised to our loved ones.
What we forgot, had never begun.
Family is the greatest thing that grows before our eyes.
Family is love, that someday we will say goodbye.

Family never stops growing, but the hurt of loved ones that passed on still grow in our hearts.
We love but never forget, what tore us apart.
Tears are a big part of feeling the past.
Tears show us, that pain does not last.
We smile for what makes us happy inside.
We cry, but we also can lie.
Family, treasured moments, that bring us a smile or make us sad.
We feel inside for what we missed, for what we had.
