FARMER'S DIARY

I once gave my goat matata sunflower.
And being an ingrate of human romance.
She ate it all.
Leaving me holding a stalk and her slippery saliva on my hand.
A sign of gratitude which I quickly wiped off on my black gown.
Luckily she had no veil.
Later, I starched dry hay on her feeding bay.
And for sometime she gazed at me.
Maybe I had been unfaithful after the failed reunion.
Her eyes again spoke a thousand words of the animals plight.
"Pluck me some legumes, peas, grass and I will be forever grateful"
Hey mate, hay will choke me!
She has lived in this pen since birth.
And the farmer had to ink off this story till its last drop.
And liberate the thoughts of a gentle animal.
That had been locked for far too long.
For him to be sane again.
He had to pick up his pen and feel alive again.
