The lights are off ,
my family's asleep.
Sneaking out the back door -
hissing at the midnight cold.
My house is not in sight,
but my home is -
a great big oak tree , that rests upon a hill.
Effortlessly,
I climb it -
resting my head against it's old yet strong trunk.
The night is silent .
It's as if every being in the world is asleep
except me -
Good!
The sky is illuminated with billions of stars -
whose light caresses my skin.
I embrace the solitude -
I embrace the peace.
I've been told that ,
in the city ,
people drown the skys natural light -
by having thier own light ,
which are many and bright.
I come here ,
when lifes a mess -
to forget any nasty things I've been told...
Well , perhaps that's a story for another day.
The temperature drops ,
but I don't care -
nothing bad can happen in my haven.
Life is short ,
so we should make it count -
From sleeping under stars to jumping out of planes.
Regrets is something we should never have.
I close my eyes
and sleep begins to call.
But before I sleep ,
I give the sky one more look -
who knows ,
it might just be my last.
This is my haven.
This is my home.
This is my farmhouse paradise.
