First Love

First love does not work out, does it?
As I walked down alone the dark streets,
The wet pavements reminded me of something... or maybe someone
Overdosed with memories I was trying to block out of my head,
I cut my veins, fought the pain but ended up surrendering at my bed
The battles I had to deal on my own; with hopes, I ran
What would make you think of me?
I struggled with thoughts as they brought me to life on Saturday
Yet there was no light, neither bird nor sun
Too strong to hold on to the promises that will never be filled,
For last night, you made up your mind;
You looked ready to destroy and leave me behind
I hope she loves you more than I do
Tears escaped my eyes as I packed your things away,
Sent them back to you with pictures of our fantasy days
If I die my love,I hope you know our memories will not
Burn them, burry or at least send them back to me
Throw them at my door and I will pick them up gently
If first love does not work out, it is destiny
Telling us that someone better is waiting at the end of the line
I just hope it is still you, with your better self waiting for me
If first love does work out, it is destiny
Telling us that we are two souls not yet ready to welcome each other
However, time can only tell
And if we do, thank God for His plans are perfect
And if we do not, thank God for at least we met
