Don't forgive me if you don't want to do that,
For my actions may have caused you harm,
And though I seek to make things right,
Your forgiveness is not my right.
I know I've made mistakes before,
And caused you pain that I deplore,
But if you choose to hold a grudge,
I'll understand and won't judge.
Forgiveness is a gift, it's true,
And not something that's owed to you,
So if you don't want to let it go,
I'll accept it, and I'll know.
For sometimes healing takes time,
And forgiveness isn't just a rhyme,
It's a choice that's yours to make,
And if you don't, it's no mistake.
So don't forgive me if you don't want to,
I'll respect the choice that's made by you,
And though it may be hard to do,
I'll learn and grow and start anew.
