forgiveness only with innocent blood

What kind of cruel design a cruel deity you serve,
Who to give forgiveness requires innocent death and nerve?
To thee justice is befouled in vile avarice,
Not as mortals would have it, with love and guidance.
This thund'ring edict has struck me in dismay,
That a vast mountain of sin could not be swayed,
That only through death and utmost injustice
Could we find our way to a hoped-for bliss.
Oh I cannot see how, even with the dawn,
We can escape this wrong or right the wrong that’s been done,
For if to get mercy, one must suffer dire consequences,
It's an unjust, unjust way that has no absolution.
Your God's blade doth ever search, searching more lives to claim,
For as sin proliferates, so does endless blame and shame,
No relief from darkness, no mercy for the meek,
It's a righteous wrath upon those who cannot speak.
So kneel before your God, you its loyal servant,
Lest any of your soul escape un-harmed, content;
With a wicked heart, we can only accept our fate,
And just pray that He's soon appeased by someone else’s death.
