foster kids

A suitcase of dreams, a heart full of tears,
Every new place, more distant from here.
The door shuts behind, a cold wind blows,
The world keeps turning, but nobody knows.
I walk through the halls of another strange home,
Wondering again if I’ll ever be alone.
Will they see me for me, or just who I was told?
Another face in a crowd, another story untold.
A new bed, new rules, but the same old fight,
To feel seen in a world where I’m out of sight.
I try to fit in, try to be right,
But the more I pretend, the more I take flight.
They say “You’ll be fine, just give it time,”
But they don’t understand the mountains I climb.
With every move, my roots grow thin,
I build walls to protect the heart within.
But deep down I wonder, just like before,
Where will I be when I open that door?
Will I find a place that feels like home?
Or will I keep searching, forever alone?
A suitcase of dreams, a heart full of fear,
Wondering if anyone will ever come near.
Foster kids move through shadows, unseen,
Carrying the weight of a world in between.
