Freedom?

Freedom
We think we have it
It's a want
A need
But nothing has grasped it
It is a breath in the wind
We are the mountains
That foolishly chase it
The higher we climb
The farther freedom flys away
We are simply kites
That get stuck on trees in Autumn
While what we need is leaves
They fall
And along with our dreams
Die in hovering snow
We are caged birds
Locked in for eternity
The key to our enslavement
Is freedom, taunting us
Freedom scorches the earth
Several miles below
And us, we are the soil
Unreachable, it burns to our core
Even without its touch
We imagine it's there
Psychological illusions of freedom
Make us joyful and rather happy
But that's all they are
Illusions
Simply figments of our imaginations
Running from failure
Leads us to the depths of
Forever caged minds
Where escape is impossible
Next time you go out
Notice your surroundings
Sense your eternal boundaries
Ask yourself this:
Are you truly free?
