Freedom or Emptiness?
My mind often aches when the work day ends
A wealth of choices waits for me at home—
No one asks why I walk through my own door,
No one checks if I’m clear-headed or coffee-warmed.
I can play chess until noon stretches long,
Or write poems when my thoughts cry out to be heard.
My alarm alone pulls me from sleep’s hold,
Prepping for work while the world lies still and blurred.
There are gifts in this space: no chains of "where?" or "when?"
Every hour is mine to shape or let drift free.
I answer only to the beat of my own time—
No need to explain, no need to agree.
But then the quiet swells, and questions start to rise:
Do I have enough room for myself in this life?
Is this the freedom we long to hold dear…
Or just emptiness wearing freedom’s disguise?
