From the ash

From the ash I rose, relinquishing repose
Descending on those who's throws and blows offered me nothing but endless woes.
Did I seek vengeance there? Dipping my claws in to rip and tear? No, instead I gave my words of prayer, warning of the fate we'd share.
Fire with fire was never my desire, for I sought an eternal home far higher. To hear that choir whose song would never tire with all those I knew in life prior.
Why propose a life of prose after being cast to the deepest shadows? Any visitor there knows that's a door to even their enemies they'd close. This life I chose because from the ash‥ I rose.
