Frozen
I sit Frozen it's not 20 below no ice surrounding me no snow are blistering winds I sit Frozen because I am bound by the skin that I am in Frozen by Whispers that are loud enough to hear handcuffed by evil looks that even when I close my eyes they are still there Frozen within a cage that looks and stares with eyes full of envy and hate Frozen by men and women whom look at me and pray for my demise Frozen by stereotypes that decide that I am too black Too Proud to Independent by my very own black men Frozen by my black sisters because my skirts are too short and my hair is real my nails are natural and I sport high heels Frozen by Prejudice within my own race calling me names like b**** and ho then turn around and smile in my face Frozen by a society that thrives off of material things Frozen by those who gossip and speak out of ignorance believing they know my circumstance Frozen by those who think they are getting over when all they are really doing is going under Frozen by those who are so superficial and shallow that they are afraid to look deeper for the beauty within because they are afraid they won't find any in them Frozen by the fact that there is no perfect being other than God Almighty the Alpha and Omega Frozen by negative thoughts in everyday images on screens that flash reminders of how tragedies crimes and catastrophes occur every second of every day Frozen by false promises of a better tomorrow and a war for peace but the body count is still Rising when will it cease
