Everything that glitters is not gold,
A truism that we've all been told.
We're tempted by the shining allure,
But beware, for not all that glitters endures.
There are things that sparkle in the light,
But they may not bring you true delight.
For the things that truly matter in life,
Are often hidden from the surface's strife.
Sometimes the flash and shimmer can blind,
Making us forget what's deep in our mind.
We chase after what's bright and new,
But the value of what's real is what we should pursue.
So don't be fooled by surface appeal,
For there's often much more than what we feel.
Look beyond the glitter and the sheen,
And find the beauty that's not easily seen.
For everything that glitters is not gold,
And in the end, what's true will hold.
So search for what's real and what's true,
And the things that truly matter will come into view.
