We were rumbling back home, the four of us,
It was a trip to forget; repairs, stops, it was war,
The hope was for a finish sweet, for all of us.
Then a shudder, crawling to a stop, the car,
It gave up on us, with not a squeak further.
Wife, kid, grandma, all of us stranded, nowhere,
Not a help in sight, were in a spot of bother.
He came along riding his bike, stopped there.
He heard, God made him listen, he took us in.
He opened his home for us, he didn't spin.
He made sure we were comfy, homely swing.
We went together, got the car running.
We ate together, spent the time smiling.
We left, those memories in our hearts holding.
