Gone Before I Could Say Goobye

Someone knocked on our door,
Mom wouldn't let me out of my room,
But it was too late,
And it was too soon.
I ran and fell onto the the bathroom floor,
Not wanting to live anymore,
After hearing what I heard.
I punched a hole in the wall,
to make sure it wasn't a dream,
Then started to scream.
I kept thinking that he was going to wake up,
That he was just knocked out,
Was he really never going to be able to grow up?
I was in complete doubt.
When I saw him in the open casket,
My heart sank,
I couldn't stand it.
I rushed to him yelling for him to wake up,
then noticed his lips.
How blue his lips were.
It all became real at that moment,
I ran,
His dead body in my mind to tourment,
He had such a short lifespan.
He was gone before I could say goodbye,
For over a year,
Every night I cry,
Thinking of how I could have saved him.
