My dearest auntie,
I am your mini- me.
But my tears that fell were not happy.
I cried my eyes to see you lying there,
All I wanted was to hug you, because I care.
Eight months ago we were celebrating mom's birthday.
You were happy, smiling, with so much to say.
Music was playing and in that moment, I just wanted to stay.
one month ago you fell on your livingroom floor.
Paralyzed you became, lying there for 20 hours, or more.
At that moment you were rushed to the hospital, not feeling yourself.
Everything happened so fast, leaving you in doubt.
You spent weeks living in a hospital bed.
I thought eventually things would change inside your head.
You started to become worse, then I get a call saying you were transferred to a care unit where you don't leave.
Then your health took a turn for the worse, and I was told that I had to come to say my goodbyes, I felt you have been deceived.
I held your hand and watched you take your last breaths, but still I cried.
I knew in my heart that I had to say goodbye.
I saw you fighting to stay alive
You still had a lot of life.
My auntie, my mini me,
Was finally free.
This was dedicated to my auntie shirley who passed away on August 8th 2021 at 10:18 pm
