Goodbye •

Gone are the days when salutations were exchanged enthusiastically.
Now pleasantries are exchanged dramatically.
Broken trust takes forever to rebuild;
Disintegrated into dust on the field.
But before all setbacks,
There are good throwbacks.
Like times when smiles are shared.
And when stories are told and heard.
Like calming them down when they're upset,
With a meal and some dessert.
Like when communication was never a problem.
And matching bracelets was the emblem.
What happens when your go-to-individual
Becomes the one you give the residual.
When you place the one in whom you solely trusted
On the rejected shelf without being dusted.
It takes a lot of courage and a little bit of nihilism to easily say Goodbye.
But then again, it takes some amount of excitement to simply tell someone Hi.
