Graduate.

She walked up
to the stage
where the audience
gazed upon
her state.
They were clapping
for her like
there were
no knives stuck
on her back.
They cheered her on
as if her dress
wasn't torn
and blood
wasn't running
down between her thighs.
They went on,
flashing their cameras
like her face
wasn't beaten
black and blue.
She looked fine,
that's how they saw her.
Even her friends
who plunged
those knives behind her.
Her ex was just grinning
ear-to-ear at the side
like he has not
caused the
unwanted penetration
between her thighs.
Her mother seemed
fine, cheering her on
like her mother
didn't beat her
during those alcoholic
nights.
The audience saw
nothing but that
certificate
that boasted
her intellect.
She had a use now,
she's a part
of this broken society
she grew up to.
