Greed is but a manacle
A shackle of the soul,
A simple, tiny spectacle
Like jewelry out of coal;
Just enough to incite
Jealousy bereft of thought,
Void of any respite
Lest it be divinely taught.
Avarice is boiling
In an afterlife of oil,
Selfishly recoiling,
Trying hard not to recoil,
Letting yet another
Altruistic charity,
Open up the other
Manacle, punitively….
Charity is giving
Even if one can't afford,
To aid another’s living
For whatever the reward,
Addicted to the feeling
Of a satisfying want,
Happily appealing,
To the virtuous détente!
Greed is but a saddle
And I only ever ride,
In and out of battle
Temporarily a guide,
As ye may imagine
If the selfish go too far
Only I, Lord Mammon
Can be everywhere they are...
