Grief is a storm that rages inside,
A tumultuous sea that cannot be denied.
It crashes and thrashes, it pulls and it wails,
It stretches and strains and it never fails.
It starts as a whisper, a soft gentle breeze,
The kind that rustles the leaves in the trees,
But then it grows stronger, it grows more profound,
It howls and it screams and it shakes the ground.
It comes in waves, and each wave brings pain,
A reminder that things won't be the same,
It takes you back to a happier time,
And then it steals it all, with no rhythm or rhyme.
Grief is a journey, a path that we walk,
With each step we take, we learn how to talk,
We talk to ourselves, we talk to the sky,
We tell the world that we won't say goodbye.
We treasure the memories, we hold them tight,
We keep them safe, with all of our might,
We cry when we need to, we laugh when we can,
We take it one day at a time, with a steady hand.
Grief is a storm, but it doesn't last forever,
It's a part of life, but it too will sever,
The sun will shine, the storm will end,
And peace will reign, once again my friend.
