Grief

I've never understood grief
Sometimes it comes as your biggest fear realized
Other times it shows up with waves of shock
It leaves you broken and speechless
Some loss you choose to acknowledge
Other you don't want to talk about
Pain you just can't explain
Emotions you don't know how to express
Maybe why grief hurts so much is because it is many emotions wrapped into one
I will never understand grief
The most powerful feeling yet most devastating
and when people talk about how painful heartbreak can be at times
All that's left in my mind is have they met grief?
because with time heartbreak heals and you move on
but grief remains, nothing ever fills that void.
