Grief grips my heart in its tight hold,
A pain that never seems to get old,
It lingers on and fills my soul,
A wound that never may be whole.
The tears flow down my cheeks each day,
And pain consumes my every way,
I try to smile; it hurts to fake,
The emptiness, it's hard to shake.
Oh, grief, a word that captures all,
The moments when I feel so small,
A feeling that I can't escape,
But yet, I'll keep on moving straight.
For one day, I know the pain will cease,
My heart will heal, and I'll find peace,
But until then, I'll hold on tight,
To memories of the ones, I loved with all my might.
