Grief in Echo

Grief in Echo

I cried the night I heard it told,
Grief gripped tight, too strong to hold.
I cried again the following day,
As sorrow carved its silent way.

I cried until the tears ran dry,
Till numbness dulled the aching cry.
Just hoping pain would slip aside,
So grief no longer had to hide.

I held myself, tried not to break,
Each breath a tremble, each smile fake.
Sitting still, lost in our past,
Moments fleeting, never meant to last.

But even brief, you lit my soul,
A spark that made the broken whole.
Though time was short, the love was bold—
A memory I’ll forever hold.
