The memories we shared, the tears we wept
I wish I could turn back time
To see you off, to make it right
The moments we laughed, the times we cried
The love we shared, with no need to hide
Our hearts beat as one, with no need to talk
Our souls entwined, like a perfect lock
I remember the day we visited the cemetery
We argued about who would leave first, so scary
But we read books about death and life
And we held on to the hope that love survives
The words "rest in peace" are driving me crazy
It's hard to believe that it will ever be okay
But I know you wouldn't want me to despair
So I'll keep your memory alive and share
I'm standing at your favorite spot today
Listening to your favorite song, trying to find a way
To feel your presence, to hear your voice
To hold you close, to make a choice
I'm running dry of tears, but my heart still weeps
I know you're gone, but your spirit still speaks
I'll keep your favorite hooded jumper close
And try to be your favorite, even in death's throes
They said you left with no notice, but I know
That they were too busy to see the love that we showed
I'll join the party in the grave, singing and dancing
With you by my side, our love forever romancing
Forgive me, but don't forget
That our love will live on, even in death
I'll hold you close, in my heart and my soul
And our love will forever be whole.
