Guiding Light

In the stillness of my heart, words unsaid,
A tribute to you, my father, now late, instead.
High school is over, yet you're not by my side,
Promises unkept, dreams in silent tide.
Your pledge to lift me high, like an endless stream,
Snatched away by fate, a cruel, unforeseen scheme.
Death, an unwelcome guest, robbed us apart,
Leaving a void, a pain, an unhealed heart.
Oh, how I wish your presence to embrace,
Guiding me through this perplexing maze.
My pen longs to etch the depth of my sorrow,
Your absence, a burden I'll carry tomorrow.
Daddy, in the halls where your laughter ceased,
I yearn for your guidance, your warmth, your peace.
I've journeyed far, as you wished and vowed,
But without you here, I'm lost in the crowd.
High school's closure, no means for the next stage,
Yet your legacy lives on, an unending page.
My tender heart aches, longing for your embrace,
Yet, in spirit, you dwell, my guiding grace.
For you, dear father, I'll strive and endure,
Your proud little girl, though life's unsure.
Though the path ahead may seem undefined,
With your love as my compass, I'll seek and find.
Rest peacefully, my guiding light above,
In each challenge I face, I cherish your love.
Your girl, though alone, presses on in the fight,
With your memory beside her, shining bright.
