Face turned towards the sun
Heart and mind filled with enthusiasm,
high hopes and expectations
Hoping for the best,
I come into The Nation's Pride.
They say life isn't a bed of roses after all
This institution has taught me so
Ah! I wish I was told that my success didn't lie in the palm of my hands alone,
but that I needed a stronger back up.
Oh! I wish I was told that I would experience the set backs that life had to offer first hand.
I wish I was told that I wouldn't be treated as a child anymore
But that I would be forced to face LIFE
and the difficulties it dishes out
I wish I was told that I would struggle with my identity,
And question who I was repeatedly.
I wish I was told that a four years course could eventually become a five years course
Oh! I wish I was told that Life in the University was really a beautiful rose flower with thorns that painfully sting.
Alas! since "history cannot be unlived"
I look forward with hope and greater expectations.
