It was on this auspicious day that nigeria got her independence
Each year on this very day nigeria celebrate her independence as a free country
People celebrate and jublilate
But what are we celebrating?
Freedom and liberty?
Or are we celebrating war and corruption?
Oh Africa!
Rise up and shine
Because that's what you do
A land of beauty
A land of riches and honour
Oh nigeria!
Instead of protecting our children
Women and infant
But there you lie so helpless
Not as strong as you should be
We only depend on you
But you failed us
Rise up again and shine
And make africa proud
Rise up so that we can raise our flag with full of pride,honour and dignity
Rise up with love and strength and faith
Never to give up
So that the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain.
