He glanced at me,
With a grin of victory,
Having taken everything from me with his ideas,
And his will to find all the possible outcomes,
When the only outcome I yearned for was with her.
His lips stirred memories of the words I spoke.
The words that untied the knots I wove with her.
His scent reminded me of his unwavering confidence,
The very tether that mesmerized me into listening to him.
Until his purpose was fulfilled and she was far away from me.
And in his eyes, a message was clear, "You fought with yourself and lost".
