I am loved in a way that holds me tight,
Close to the heart both day and night.
She says I’m all she truly needs,
And sometimes that feels warm indeed.
I like being chosen, being the one,
Being someone’s place to run.
But love grows heavy, starts to weigh,
When freedom slowly slips away.
I walk with care, I choose my side,
Hide quiet fears I keep inside.
I swallow truths I’m scared to say,
So I don’t watch her drift away.
I carry battles no one sees,
Small silent aches unspoken pleas.
I smile through things that make me shake,
For love’s own fragile careful sake.
I don’t want loss I don’t want pain,
I don’t want love that feels like chains.
I don’t want to leave I don’t want to flee,
I just hope love can learn to see
there’s room for us and room for me.
