The materialistic perspective is to believe in the things of the world. There are materialistic things we need and want to make our religious belief function. For example, the Bible, church, money, offerings, cars, clothes are the materialistic objects that we need and want to get through our lives. Hip hop’s relationship and religion are more complex than R&B, Jazz, and funk. Hip hop incorporates gospel music to help tell stories. Like types and forms of music, hip hop comes from a life experience of music that came prior.
Before the hip hop era, there were funk, dusties, disco, and the blues. The hip hop core got influenced by those types of music and started incorporating those elements into it. The hip hop culture reflects life in the black community.
It is an expression to describe the positive and negative effects in society. Hip hop is viewed by many cultures and some cultures incorporate hip hop music into their music. For example, you have Spanish hip hop, Chinese hip hop, African hip hop, and British hip hop. Its appeal continues to spread across the world and allows the youth generation to question the existence of human struggle and cruelty.
