Here it sits old and run down
Acid bleeds into the ground
Overridden by stings and nettles
Pushing through the crackling brown.
Empty greyness leading upwards
Into halls that hear no sound
Feeling nothing when I enter
Not knowing what I lost or found.
Breathing in tries to choke me
Breathing out is my reply
See the shadows that always scared me
See the ones that made me cry.
Smell the way that time changes
Overwhelmed with mold and gloom
Set my footsteps all down easy
Crackled bones will be my doom.
Look through windows long forgotten
Feel the pain of pleasures past
See me playing in the backyard
Knowing now that it won’t last.
Open doorways enter nowhere
Boards across them block my way
Try the bathroom it’s still open
The wet and dank force me away.
In the back yard all the bodies
People not knowing what I did
Delving in the depths of darkness
It was where the green men hid.
