A bullet flew across my face, I saw my life flash before my eyes.
A soldiers life I swore to chase, now offers me fear and I'm paralyzed.
A pressure growing in my chest, I feel my life start to fade.
A feeling that brings me back to the states, that hike in the everglades.
A fragmentation blows through my jaw, breaks the roof of my mouth.
A tiny shard that should have killed me, should have sent me to my eternal south.
A Medic standing over me, screaming for me to stay awake.
A tall man cloaked in black, says he's there for my soul to take.
A bright flash of white impresses, a hospital I now lay.
A cruel joke that life has played on me, I thought I finally had my day.
A glory taken from me, to die in battle with honor abound.
A crimsoned soul now I have become, I wander aimlessly through town.
A drink of whiskey and bottle of beer, the only things that comfort me.
A life of servitude has left me worthless, this is the price for you to be free.
A crying soul deep within my heart, now tortured by my dark past.
A sleepless night for every day, it's a life I wish wouldn't last.
