Release the chains of closed minds' sway,
Embrace the power to brighten our day,
For amidst the darkness, a chosen few,
With empathy and understanding, we'll pursue.
I stand like an iroko, steadfast and true,
Born from rich soil, radiating like the sun's hue,
Leading the black savannah to prosperity's door,
Guiding my queen, ushering in a new era and more.
Through the ups and downs, I'll never give in,
Africa's hope, my love, my mother, my kin,
Behind veils, we hide from pain's cruel sting,
Yet within ourselves, emotions do spring.
Loneliness and suffering, our silent companions,
But if we choose to let go, our spirits will strengthen,
Love, the essence we yearn for, crave and need,
Though fear may ignite, we'll let love lead.
Embrace kindness, let it be our guide,
In the arms of those who understand, we won't hide,
For in love and in feeling, our souls truly thrive,
Numbness fades, and our hearts come alive.
