House of Life

House of Life
At first there is just the floor
Dirty and covered with dust yet it still holds us steady.
It might have some cracks, but nothing a new tile or two can’t fix
Yet, what about our walls that hold up our roof
We batter and break them when we are angry and never take that second look, because as we say “the poster will cover it”
Then there is the roof. It shields us from everything that is trying to crash down and hides us from what we don’t want to see while the windows leave us open to the world
Everyone who walks by can look through and see who we really are, but instead of showing the truth we decide to cover it with a curtain.
We shut every door that the outside wants opened, because we are so scared that if they enter they will see all of our mistakes we have covered up and yet when we enter this place instead of fixing the broken battered walls or replacing the cracked tiles on the floor we choose the locks and to turn and walk far away from the ugly light showing the truth through the light of day.
