The day seemed so bright
My eyes drifted with the light
The sun’s rays touched every roof
And asked everyone to wake from their slumber
It was Friday
I felt so happy and gay
I stepped out of my room
In high spirits and full of grace
I thought I heard someone shout my name
I ignored it at first
Only for it to shout again
Sending chills down my spine
It was my landlady’s daughter
“My mother, my mother oo, it’s my mother”
She screamed these words incessantly
And my skin wrinkled from the chill
Carried by her shrill words
How is life fair?
She lay reposed like a lifeless trunk
I was lost in my chambers of thought
Fortunately her heart was still beating
But only just at a snail’s pace
I run to get a mechanical beast
To roar her to the orthodox healers
The beast was fast
We were met by daughters of Eve in white
Like the many angels in heaven
My heart so strong like the foundations of this earth was filled with hope
After their orthodox maneuvers on her
She slowly opened her eyes
On her bed she lay
And gestured me to come to her
She looked at me with blood soaked eyes
In it there were no lies
In a muffled voice, she said “thank you”
“God bless you my son”
In those seconds of time and space
I felt complete
My effort was rewarded not with coin
But a call of prayer unto my creator
To bless me, my very existence seemed whole
May her prayer be answered a million times
