Hug me,
take the stress from me,
it floats away,
as you will see,
squeeze me,
place your arms on my back,
make a ring around me,
like this, see,
pull me in to comfort,
hands massaging,
soothe me,
rub away the pain,
the strain
held stiff in my spine
so ramrod straight,
steal away the anxiety
swimming it's laps up in my head,
leave it with nothing said,
embrace me,
standing still,
the fading day around us.
Days of hardships long,
of heat and work,
of rain and tears,
hug me,
strong and warm,
hold me near and close again,
my tears will fall
shaking jagged breaths consume me,
quiet release,
hug me,
let all my anguish fade away,
hug me,
just hug me
say nothing at all.
You don't need to understand,
or know how I feel,
or share in the words that escape me,
just look silently into my eyes -
this quiet isn't awkward,
it is comforting,
and hug me,
it will let me know you're here,
let my burry my face into your shoulder,
let's stand here,
in the middle of this room,
merged together as one in this embrace,
ignoring the noise and laughter all around us,
just hug me,
help me rediscover my joy.
