Humanity Plays Upon The Bodies Of The Poor

I've never been this,
hungry.
I've starved,
for weeks,
months.
But,
I've never been this,
hungry.
Not,
till I seen this,
screen.
Not,
till I watched,
these humans,
play.
Not,
till the second,
I realized,
I,
was slave.
Smiling.
Oh,
how such use to be,
a subconscious act.
How,
I indeed,
even whilst starving,
would always,
smile.
Now,
this screen,
this society.
It's,
altered me.
My,
simplicity.
My,
humanity.
My,
ability to,
be.
For,
now,
I'm constantly wondering,
"Why Me?".
Why,
shall I exist as this,
cog?
This,
being intensely tethered to,
surviving?
Why,
shall I care deeply,
about the continuation of this,
vacuous society?
I wonder,
whilst I breathe.
Whilst pain,
alters my back,
my knees.
Whilst,
each day,
seems to make me,
a weaker being.
I wonder,
where within this existence,
shall I find,
free?
