Yes things may at the moment, seem bad
We may not have much,
A lot of us may be sad,
With happiness, we may seem to have lost touch
Still I believe in Africa
As a result of these disasters that plague our part of the earth
Most of these, man made
In tears, our souls seem to berth
Through which daily, we struggle to wade
I still believe in Africa
Our bodies may be with hunger, lean
Our systems by aliments, troubled
We may not, right now, be able to glean
All our dreams, from our nations that are rubbled
But I believe in Africa
We may be the largest continent
But yet under the subjection of other little ones
We may not be so eminent,
We may not have the accolade tons
But I believe in Africa
We may be loaded but empty
Making us easy prey to exploiters
Draining us that we may collapse like Humpty-Dumpty
Into the deepest parts of the extinction waters
But I believe in Africa
We may some of the worst when it comes to violence
Killing, maiming & the best of worst crimes
Victims of bumbling malevolence
Leaving us hearts of lime
But I believe in Africa
Yes the eyes of many-a-soul may be with tears, seemingly endless
As a result of worries & pains
We may be in the tightest part of the press
Bringing on migraines
But I believe in Africa
I believe she can still survive with intention
I believe she can still be classified the best of mothers
I believe she can consume every bone of contention
And weather every storm that gathers
I believe in Africa
I believe she can take her rightful place as the largest continent
Not just size wise but in all ramifications
I believe her children can know true merriment
Free from every kind of vilification
I believe in Africa
Africa, Our Darling Africa
Take your place as the giant you are.
