I Chose Me
I stopped begging mirrors
to love me back.
Stopped shrinking my voice
so others could feel tall.
I learned that peace
doesn’t scream for attention,
it whispers,
protect your soul.
I no longer pour from a cup
that was never refilled.
I no longer confuse tolerance
with strength.
Self-love taught me boundaries,
self-respect taught me silence.
Some doors don’t need closing,
they close when you stop knocking.
I am not hard to love.
I was just giving myself
to hands that didn’t know
how to hold light.
Now I choose me,
not out of selfishness,
but survival.
Not out of pride,
but truth.
And in that choosing,
I finally came home.
