It's like I'm a turtle
That's the colour purple
Being a black man
Always some white folks, trying to target me, as much as they can
It's rough
It's tough
I have to work ten times harder
To get a work at the corner
While a white friend, in school, didn't do a task
Can get the job fast
We always seem to get the worse
While white folks, for first class treatment, always, comes first
Are voices, so many times are not heard
It's like, were saying, not a word
Things are not as bad as before
Things are not getting better, for sure
"Wait!",what just came out,
Of my mouth?
Why am I negative?
And not being positive?
I need to stop making, what I see
Tell me what to be
And start proving people wrong
That being a black man, isn't a sad song
I will fight
With all my might
To let the racist see
They can't stop me,from being, what, I'm mean't to be
