I HAVE LOVED
..And cried so much
Over a clichè love story
Warmer than February
Or so I thought,
Look at me now, having a hard time
Peeling my fingers away
From the pages of overfamiliarity,
We can't fade away just like this
Into thin air
Into dust
Into bubbles,
As if I haven't written about you
In poems dedicated to the moon,
In stories that once upon
A lovely time made my heart skip and swoon,
Everything feels heavier now
Insignificant
Taken for granted,
Overloaded with choices and chances
And goodbyes,unsaid.
I hate this feeling of being lost
Of being alone
Moonless as a sky
Abandoned by everything that sparkles
On evenings meant for
Sweet nothings
And slow dancing.
When will tears run dry?
This story,
I could have written it differently
In another universe
With a crystal-clear happy ending
Yet as the fog thickens
Love left
Faster than 5 minutes
Leaving me empty-handed
Taking too many of my heartbeats.
