Part II
II. Love was when I was always left wondering
why, why, why --
why isn't dad living with us?
why, why, why --
why is mom not with us?
No one told me.
Until one day, love shattered
the innocence in me.
Love was the day
I saw my first name
on my dad's phone.
"You're my favorite child,"
was love's lame excuse.
Yet he never call me that.
Later that day, the innocent me
shared this conversation
with my older sister
and the truth spilled out
of her sealed letter.
Love was when my sister said
"We couldn't tell you
'cos you'd tell mom."
I wasn't my father's favorite,
it was the name of his other woman.
Love broke my heart.
Love made me hate my name.
Love taught me honesty
is wrong.
Family comes first.
