In the mirror of the past, I see a familiar face,
A smile that once was, lost in time and space.
Laughter echoed in the halls, a melody so sweet,
A song of joy and innocence, a rhythm hard to beat.
People came and people went, they took what they could see,
Stripped me of my sanity, my happiness set free.
They stole my light, my inner peace, a theft so cruel and sly,
Left me in the shadows, with a silent, aching cry.
But within this darkness, a spark begins to glow,
A yearning for the old me, the one I used to know.
I miss the laughter, the smiles, the carefree days of old,
I yearn for them, I reach for them, their memory I hold.
I've been a vessel, empty, a canvas torn and bare,
But now I seek the artist's touch, the colors bright and fair.
I will reclaim my stolen joy, my laughter will ring true,
For the one who holds the power to change, is none other than you.
So, I'll rise from these ashes, stronger than before,
I'll reclaim my sanity, my happiness, and more.
I'll paint my canvas with colors bright, with love, and joy, and cheer,
For I am more than what was taken, I am still here.I miss the old me, the laughter, and the smile,
But I'll find them once again, it's just a little while.
For within me lies a strength, a light that's shining back,
I miss the old me, but I'm on the right track.
