We met one night at a local bar
Drinking Jim Beam and a beer
I saw you dancing as you watched me
But I hid myself because of fear.
It didn’t seem to matter to you
That I had tried to hide away
Instead you came looking for me
But I didn’t know what to say.
So I sat and waited reluctantly
As you continued to look for me
I thought that maybe you could
Possibly help to set me free.
You took me to your place
Where we sat and talked for hours
The next time that I saw you
I made sure that I brought flowers.
In time I thought that we fell in love
But that wasn’t true for you
You used me as you needed me
And lied when we were through.
I came home one day to find
That despite me you were gone
It broke my heart that you left
So I sat crying on the lawn.
I felt a hard west wind blowing
As it messed up my perfect hair
I didn’t know where you had gone
But I know you didn’t care.
I hope to find another woman
Who will love me as I am
Because you could never do that
And I no longer give a damn.
