I saw it as the sun set
I saw the embers of a dream ignite
I saw it come to life, die then struggle to arise
I saw my place, cast in stone
I saw that they didn't lie
I saw a sure thing scurry away
I saw fear, strength and a little more
I heard a soul rumble
I heard laughter drowning all else
I heard clinking of coins break a spell
I heard wisdom, at an unlikely place
I heard all of it lacking in compassion
I heard a change was coming
I heard an earnest prayer
I saw movement of lips
I heard a whimper of despair
I saw knees hugging the floor
I heard the embers I saw fumble in fear and uncertainty.
