Inspired by a recent experience...
I watched my life flash before my eyes
All the way back to my first sunrise
Every detail that formed my essence
Now displayed vividly in my presence.
I caught a glimpse before my eyes,
And it was to my great surprise,
That all came flooding back to me-
One long and beautiful, bitter-sweet memory.
But then there came over my eyes
A darkness, liken to night when the sun dies.
I beheld the horrors of my moment last.
Tis true: time is a stern teacher of the past.
Next, my mistakes and good deeds
Danced before my eyes
The times I'd fallen, all the "I trys."
The dawn, the sunset, the cycle of life and death,
Represented in one short breath.
I saw my life flash before my eyes,
And I realized how fast time flies.
My heart pleaded for a second chance
And my mind's eye left its eternal trance.
