I smile because I have to
after all the things I've been through,
all the hurt and all the pain
I smile because new strength I've gained,
the betrayals,no value and feeling of no worth
I smile because I know now what I can bring forth,
family,friends and bridges burnt
I smile because they were all lessons learnt,
the abuse,manipulations and gas lighting
I smile because I knew eventually I'll win,
whether sickness,death or good health
I smile because in God I find strength,
so despite whatever may come my way
I smile because positive is how I chose to stay.
