I

I WAITED

i waited for you.
on the side of the road
where nothing survives.
where grass doesn't grow
and flowers don't bloom
and the wind is unimpressive.
on the short, arching bridge,
looking at the fish
all swimming
over small and large pebbles...
glass breaks; shadows echo.
steel and silver hungers
were growing and rasping.
i waited for fantasy.
where the roses are purple and blue
and the lillies bob by the trees;
and perennials blossom
underneath falling logs.
where the water shimmers
and the atmosphere is sweet
and the path is golden.
the riverbank is fresh and clear.
i almost took a swim
in the cold, rushing waters below.
vagrancy with no house
and a fractured coin.
but i should not have waited.
