I was just a child

I was just a child
I was just a child,
yet the world pressed its weight on my shoulders.
Dreams too big for my pocket,
tears too silent for anyone to hear.

I was just a child,
learning that life does not wait
for you to grow strong
you grow strong because life demands it.

And even now,
that child in me still whispers:
“Do not give up,
you have carried too much
to stop here.
